Be a Sponsor, Become a Hero... Help MVP Students attend Christian Brothers High School
When children arrive at MVP, they are either angry or shut-down, yet they learn over time that there is another way of life that is attainable if they choose it. It takes years of stability, safety, studies, exposure to the moral values, and God's grace for a child to arrive at the place these students are today.
Two Major benefits will happen when these kids attend Christian Brothers. One is the obvious: a solid education including faith formation, on a safe, friendly campus.
The other is perhaps more important: changing the culture of the neighborhoods these kids live in. Instead of only seeing youth claiming red or blue, carrying weapons, and committing crimes, there will now be one or two teens wearing Christian Brothers T-shirts, carry backpacks and heading home to study. There is untold power in the example these students will provide the younger kids in the neighborhood. Perhaps a young child will realize that there is another life available to him because someone like him has walked a different road.
What is lacking is tuition money. This is the first year since we started home-schooling six years ago that Christian Brothers has had no scholarship money to offer. We believe wholeheartedly that attending Christian Brothers High School will bring great change into the homes and neighborhoods of these students. We are looking for people who will sponsor children, with either partial or whole tuition.
As a sponsor, you will receive a monthly letter from your student as well as updates on your student's performance through progress reports and report cards. Please consider what you can do to support these students who are working hard to forge a new path in their families and neighborhoods. It only takes a bit of yeast to make the dough rise, and we believe these students are that yeast.
