November 2011
The
month of November is now over and now we are in the month of December. In my American literature class we
are working on an essay about a short story that we read and discussed. The story
that I enjoyed reading was, A Pair of Silk
Stockings, by Kate Chopin. The theme I choose was that material items will
make a person happy for a short amount of time. In my US history
class we are learning about the civil war. My Spanish class is learning about
the preterit and the verbs ir, dar, banarse, and perdonar. In church history
class we are learning about the crusades, and how their main goal was to get
the holy land back. My science class is
studying about momentum and the equations of it. In my geometry class I am
learning about the mid segment of a triangle and the circum center of a
triangle. I am really happy that the holidays are coming and that I can spend
time with my family.
October 2011
The month of October is now over and it is time to go into the
month of November. In my Spanish class we are studying the verbs tener, querer,
hablar, vender and escribir. On Monday, the 31st of October, we had a
Day of the Dead project that was due. I made a skull out of felt
paper. In my science class I am studying direct and indirect proportionality.
In my U.S History class we have just finished learning about slavery and
the conditions they lived in. We are studying a story called, Hop Frog, that is
written by Edgar Allan Poe. In my Church History class we are learning about
many saints and why they were made a saint. In my Geometry class we are
learning about congruent triangles and how you can tell if they are congruent
by the sides or by the angles. I am glad that we are in the month of November
now because the hour changes and the days get darker faster and also because we
get another hour of sleep.
September 2011
I've had a great start so
far as a junior at Christian Brothers. In religion class we're doing a
project on saints. The saint my group chose was St. Sebastian. In science
class we are learning about Newton’s Laws of Motion. In Spanish we are studying many verbs and
learning about indirect and direct pronouns. In geometry I am learning
about parallel and perpendicular lines. In U.S. History we are learning about
the federalist and republicans. In my American Literature class we're reading the book named the Crucible. We have just finished it and it was
very interesting to see the people in the book lie and
accuse innocent people of witchcraft. So far I am enjoying this year
as a junior.
August 2011
I am now a junior in high school. I’m a counseling aid and I help call in
students that the counselors need to see. In my American Lit class I have finished
writing an extended paragraph about the book, “A Lesson Before Dying”. In my U.S History class I am learning
about the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution. This year I’m taking geometry and I’m
learning about linear points and congruent lines. In my Spanish class we’re studying reflexive
verbs. In my science class I’m learning about significant figures
and scientific notation. In my Church
History class I am reading Acts in the Bible and answering questions
about what I have read.
October 2010It has been two months since I started school at Christian Brothers as a sophomore. In my art class I am drawing five objects and painting them with warm colors. Europe, and its countries, is what I am learning about in my history class. In my English class, I have finished reading the book Bless Me Ultima and writing an essay on it. I am learning about Newtons first law of inertia and doing many physical experiments. In my math class we are learning about percent and proportions. In Religion we are still learning about the Old Testament and in Spanish class I am learning about the many adjectives and verbs. This month was Holy Bowl. Holy Bowl is Christian Brothers vs Jesuit. We lost but it was a close game. I'm glad that I have been in school because I am enjoying it.
September 2010It has been a good start at Christian Brothers High School as a sophomore. This year I am taking an Art class and I am enjoying it. In my World History class we are studying the Renaissance Period and in my Literature and Composition class we are reading a book called "Bless Me Ultima". It is very intereting. In my Science class we are measuring grow beasts and watching them grow. We are reading from the Dei Verbum in Religion.
My Spanish class is very easy, so I am thinking of moving up to Spanish 2. I am enjoying these classes and I hope to learn many different things. I am happy that I ended strong with a 3.29 G.P.A last year as a freshman. I am having a good start as a sophomore!
March 2010In the past week my G.P.A. has increased to a 3.14. My goal all year has been to reach at least a 3.0 G.P.A. and I have now achieved it!
February 2010In this third quarter of my freshman year our literature class is studying poetry. I have learned a lot of terms and now know what it means to explicate a poem. P.E. class has become very interesting because we are learning C.P.R. and practicing on mannequins. African culture has been the topic in history class and in religion we are reading stories from the Gospel of Mark. I am doing better this semester, now that I know what to expect at Christian Brothers.
October 2009It has been four months since school started. In my literature class we are reading a novel called Of Mice and Men. We are halfway through and it is really interesting. In my World History class, we are learning about Greece. It is also very interesting.
September 2009It has been five weeks since I started Christian Brothers High School. I can already see as a Freshman that the more we advance in our school year, the harder it's going to be. This week in my composition class we are learning how to write essays in a certain way. I know it will be a challenge for me because I am not a very good writer. Hopefully, I will become one!
August 2009Tomorrow makes two weeks since my first day at Christian Brothers High School. It has been hard transitioning to this large campus, and to moving from class to class. We have five minutes between sets to get our books from our lockers and get to class. I feel a sense of relief each time I get to my seat before the bell rings. I am glad I attended summer school because I know where my classes are located. I am grateful that I have this opportunity to attend Christian Brothers.
