November 2011
This month has been a challenging one. A close friend of ours’ was killed in a
gang-related incident. It’s been really
hard on everyone, but we’re all coping as best as we can. Nothing much else has
really happened this month. Today I went
on a Choir Tour with all the choirs at CB. We went to three middle schools and sang
there. I have noticed that although the kindergarteners are always very
excited, as well as the first, second, and third graders, the older kids
sometimes have the kind of “I’m too cool for this” type of attitude. Either way it’s always fun to see the little
kids get all worked up when they hear that you’re singing a song they know and
like. It was a lot of fun today going
around on our tour busses. The funniest
part of today had to have been when over 90 choir kids all dressed in tuxes and
gowns walked into round table to eat. It
was funny to see all the other people there. There was hardly even enough room for everyone
to sit.
October 2011
This month has been a pretty good one. I have been doing well with
all of my classes and I had my first choir concert just a few weeks ago. I have
been loving my Spanish class. My teacher is really funny. She makes the class
really fun. My choir class has been amazing as well. I am now starting to
learn the music for our Christmas concert.
I am also learning the song "We Are the World" for the second
annual MVP banquet dinner this Friday. I am very excited for this because I’m speaking
at the dinner.
September 2011
This month has been a more
relaxing one than the last. The weather is starting to get colder, which is
very nice for me because I love cold weather. I'm also a lot more comfortable
in my classes. My favorite class right now is Choir, which is my "B"
Set. My favorite day of the week is Thursdays. The reason being is that we have
late start and "B" set is always my first class on Thursdays. So, I get up at eight and go to choir in the morning. It is one of my three classes that day. I
believe I wrote about Holy Bowl in my last entry; we lost terribly. It
was a great disappointment. There's a very exciting thing happening this weekend and that is my first choir concert of the year. I am very excited. My choir
has worked very hard and I know we are ready.
August 2011
This month has been a very
interesting one. I was excited for school to start because I saw on my schedule that I had 3 teachers that I've had before. I get along well with them so
it's really nice to have them again. My favorite class right now would have to
be women's chorus. I took the class freshman year and it is actually even more
fun this time. The class is half the size, so I’ve gotten to
know most of my classmates. A huge event coming up is Holy Bowl. It's a football
game against our rival school, Jesuit. I'm really hoping we can win this
year because winning Holy Bowl would prove that we are better than Jesuit.
January 2011This month has been very laid-back and relaxing. The holidays were a lot of fun this year because I got to see my sister and my nephew Ean. For 5 hours my family made tamales in our small kitchen. It was a lot of work and by the end of the day I was exhausted. I loved hanging out at my house and just relaxing and sleeping in every morning. It's really good for stress. My sister Rachel also moved back in with my family. It's really cool having her around every day.
November 2010This month of school has been a lot of fun, but also really hard. Homecoming was in the beginning of the month and it was great hanging out and dancing with my friends. It has also been hard because in
several classes projects and papers are constantly being assigned. Sometimes the projects are fun and I like to write so that's not so bad, but recently I've been losing a lot of sleep. Good grades or enough sleep? That is the question. I've decided good grades matter more. Therefore, I have come to see the weekends as a time for sleep and relaxation. That, my friend, is why I love the weekends!
October 2010This month has been very exciting but with one flaw—we lost Holy Bowl!!! I was so upset when we lost because I really thought we were going to win. Either way, our Falcons did their best. We won the freshman game 30-0, tied the JV team 30-30, and lost the Varsity game 18-15. Besides sports, my academics really seem to being doing better than last year. This year I only have 2 C’s that I’m working on. Luckily, they’re high C’s. The rest are B’s except an A I have. I’m also part of the anime and manga club, a club which focuses on Asian comic books, such as Naruto, Inuyasha, and others. I’ve also made a few new friends. Tomorrow I’m singing at our school open house. I think it’ll be a lot of fun.
September 2010These first few weeks of school have gone by quickly, which is a relief. This school year, my favorite teacher is a hard thing to decide. I really like Ms. Chadbourne, my Spanish teacher. She talks really fast and teaches us while making us laugh at the same time. But I also like my choir teacher, Mr. Slabbinck. He has a very nice voice and the class is lots of fun. Then again I have Ms. Bowers, my English teacher. She has to be one of the most interesting people to have a conversation with about a book. So, I'm happy with my teachers and my grades are improved this year. We already had our frosh/soph dance. I had a lot of fun dancing with my friends. Last but not least, I don't know if I'm the only one seeing this, but the freshmen this year are so much nicer than my class was! I have made about six new freshmen friends so far. Overall, school is great!
February 2010My G.P.A. is currently better than last semester, and the work is only getting harder. However, I am getting used to the mountain of books! On the 20th of this month is the Sadie Hawkin's Dance and I am so excited to go! I've already asked a friend of mine who sits behind me in Spanish class. My writing career is still progressing! I continue to work on my "Jacknapped!" series in my spare time. Overall, I must say, CB is truly exciting!
January 2010Today there was a spirit rally and it was a lot of fun! My friend Duffy was put in a trash can but he was aware of the plan and he and everyone thought it was funny. Banners of blue (Freshman spirit color)
were hanging behind me. At the end, I pulled the banners down, then wrote this poem:
I pulled the banner from the wall
I giggled as I watched it fall.
It hit the floor, I picked it up,
And with it, I wrapped me up!
Next month is the Sadie Hawkin's Dance! It should turn out to be pretty exciting. Well, sorry to go, but I have to hit the books!
October 2009CB is proving to be one of the most formidable challenges I have ever been up against! Yet again, it is fun and exciting! This spring, I am hoping to try out for the softball team. This summer, I am going to New York with my school choir to see Wicked! Everything happening is extremely exciting and I'm glad I've been given the opportunity to come here. Never before have I understood the value of sleep!
September 2009The first month of Christian Brothers is now over, and I know where all my classes are. The work is really hard, but I'm keeping up. My favorite hobby now is SLEEPING because I always have so much work to do, that sleep is the best! Saturday is Holy Bowl! It's the biggest football game at C.B. We are playing against Jesuit and I hope we win!
August 2009Wow! Christian Brothers is amazing! My classes are hard, but I'm up for the challenge. Today I read at the all-school liturgy (Mass). I read one of the prayers of the faithful. "We pray for the Freshman..." I was so nervous when I went up to the microphone, but afterward I was told that I did very well and I sounded confident. I guess I'm good at public speaking! School is a lot of fun. Tomorrow night, I will be attending the first official dance of the year: Freshman and Sophomores with an 80's theme! I can't wait!
