January 2012

This month has been the first month of the new semester.  It has been a tough month of adjustment, but I am getting through it. It has also been a fun month filled with big rallies and rival basketball games. Our girls’ basketball team played against rivals St. Francis and came out with a victory.  Our boys’ team fell short of a victory.  My classes are getting tougher so I have been attending tutoring after school with my teachers. After tutoring, I’ve also been preparing with my athletic training team for our sports medicine competition in April. We have a lot to learn and practice in a few weeks before we go to competition.

November 2011

This month has been a long, but fun month.  Football season has ended, but all of the winter sports have begun.  Even though football has ended, I’m still continuing sports medicine for the basketball teams.  I will be going to Pasadena, California with my sports medicine team in April so we’ve been preparing for the competition.  We made a presentation in front of the student council in hopes to receive the money we will need for our trip.  They had many questions for us and I believe we did well answering them all.  I hope they will see it is a worthy trip and allow us to have the money we will need for the trip.  My classes are all going well.  I’m enjoying learning in every class.  We are working hard to prepare for finals in December.

October 2011

This month was a very exciting month for CB because there were so many activities.  At the beginning of the month each class had a competition to see who could sell the most magazines.  Each week the winning class would get to play games during lunch like a balloon toss.  Another exciting activity that happened was Homecoming.  The week of Homecoming was spirit week.  The theme for Homecoming was Swag in Wonderland.  Each day we had a different spirit day theme.  This made every day that led to the big game and dance so much fun!  The day before our homecoming game and dance we had a rally at school.  It was loads of fun.  Many different things took place at the rally such as the announcement of the class royalty.  My favorite thing though was near the end of the rally when the teachers all broke out in a “flash mob” and began to dance.  It was really cool to watch the teachers surprise us with a dance.  The next day was the Homecoming game and dance.  It was such a fun day!  Since I’m part of the sports medicine team I worked the JV football game.  The JV team won but sadly the Varsity team lost.  It was also senior day so all of the senior football players, athletic trainers and cheerleaders presented their parents with roses.  That night I went to dinner with my friends and then we went to the dance and had an amazing time.  I enjoyed dancing with all of my friends.  It was an amazing night and month.

September 2011
This September has been a lot of fun.  CB and Jesuit had their rival football game, the Holy Bowl.  It was so much fun!  Since I’m an athletic trainer, I was on the field for the JV game.  It was fun to see the players up close and in action.  During the varsity game I was up in the stands with my friends and that was fun.  My school cheered the entire game and showed our school spirit.  Sadly we couldn’t pull off a win, but my school had amazing spirit and our football teams played hard.  It was a fun experience that brought us all together.  School is going well and all of my teachers are great.  I hope to continue to do well.  I’m looking forward to next month because we will have our football homecoming games and dance.

August 2011
As August comes to an end, I look back at how exciting it has been.  I had a tremendous summer and I was ready and excited to start my sophomore year.  All of my teachers are wonderful and I’m really enjoying their classes.  I was especially excited to see all of my friends and hear all about their summer adventures.  Wow did we all have fun!  After school I am working as an athletic trainer again.  I am no longer the rookie trainer so I get to help with our new trainers.  I get to work at the JV football games and also other fall sports like soccer and volleyball.  But my favorite is football.  The football team has had many injuries but nevertheless our JV team is doing very well.  I’m looking forward to the Holy Bowl in September.  My goal academically is to work really hard so I can do very well in all of my classes.  So far my classes have lots of homework and lots of hours of studying but I’m excited to learn new things.
GO CB – BEAT JESUIT!!!!

February 2011

February has been a very busy month.  This month softball started so I’ve had practices every day and we’ve started pre-season scrimmages.  So far our team looks pretty good.  We will see how it goes when the season starts in March.  Also this month was Pre-registration month so I needed to get all of my teachers to sign-off on what classes I will take next year.  My schedule looks good for next year and I can’t wait.  Since this month was so short the days went by so fast.  This means that in two and a half months school will be out for the summer!!!

January 2011

This January has been a lot of fun.  This month Christian Brothers had its Annual Father Daughter/Mother Son dance.  The theme of the dance was a 50’s Sock Hop.  I had a ton of fun dressing up like I was from the 50’s and also dancing with my dad!  We also had a Spirit Rally and all the classes switched class colors.  The Seniors took the Juniors colors and became Purple, the Juniors took the Sophomore colors and became Blue, the Sophomores took the Freshmen colors and became Orange, last but not least the Freshmen too the Seniors colors and we became Yellow.  The rally was crazy with spirit and so much fun!  We also had our Holy Court game which is a basketball game against our rival school Jesuit.  This game was very exciting and very close but sadly we lost.  It was still a very fun and exciting game!

December 2010

December was a short month at school but it was tough.  It was somewhat stressful because of final exams.  I studied very hard for all of my finals.  My grades on my finals could have a huge impact on my final grades because some are two part finals and each are worth so many points.

December was also so much fun.  My athletic training program has started working and setting up for basketball season.  Both girls and boys teams look great.  I am looking forward to going to basketball games.

I was excited to have a two week vacation to celebrate Christmas with friends and family.  I am looking forward to 2011.  It will be a great New Year.

November 2010

This month started off great and exciting!  The football season ended with the Homecoming Games.  The freshmen game was lots of fun.  The team’s record was 9 wins and 0 losses so it was an important game.  The game was tough and the other team was winning but CB rallied back.  The last seconds of the game was intense.  There was an amazing play in for a touchdown!  The team had to go for 2 points to tie the game.  The call was so close that the ref took a few minutes to talk with his other refs until they made the call.  The crowd was so quiet and then it exploded with the final call that it was good.  The game was over with a TIE!  The freshmen team ended with a perfect record of 9 wins 0 loses and 1 tie.  It was a great season and I had lots of fun.

The Homecoming Dance was so much fun.  My friends and I went out to dinner and then we went to the dance.  I had so much fun dancing with all of my friends.

School is going well.  It is getting harder but I’m doing my best.

October 2010
This past month has been great, especially because of the big rivalry game between CB and Jesuit….. The Holy Bowl!!!  Everyone at school was so excited especially because the varsity team hadn’t lost a game against Jesuit, not their freshmen, sophomore or junior year.  It was so exciting to imagine that they could beat Jesuit as seniors too.  The Friday before the game was so fun; we had a rally during school and then a block party after school.  There was a DJ and face painting and a whole bunch of other fun things.

Game day was here.  My uncle drove from Santa Barbara to join my family at the Holy Bowl.  Since I am an athletic trainer I was able to be on the sideline during the freshmen game.  It was a lot of fun because our team was really pumped up and so was the crowd.  The freshmen BEAT Jesuit so everyone was so happy!!!  It was a great way to start.  After the game I went to where my parents were having a tailgate party.  My dad was barbequing and we were next to the Alumni Association’s Tailgate party so there was so much yummy food!  The crowd of parents all tailgating in the parking garage was so excited after the freshmen win.  We could see the JV game from our parking spot.  It was so fun to watch them winning most of the game.  The game ended in a tie.  After the JV game I changed from my trainer uniform and got all decked out in BLUE!  My friends, family and I all went into the stadium for the Varsity game.  The crowd was huge and lots of fun.  I really enjoyed being with my new and old friends in the student section.  Everyone was in blue and loud.  The game was low scoring so we didn’t give up trying to cheer on the team.  The seconds were ticking off the clock and it looked like Jesuit was going to win but CB was not giving up.  One last play, a chance to get the ball back and maybe win the game.  CB kicked an onside kick and recovered it.  It looked like it went the 10 yards so the crowd went crazy but then the referees blew their whistle and said, NO!  The game was over which meant that Jesuit had won the Holy Bowl by just a couple of points.  It was a sad loss!  But it was a great day and I had a ton of fun.

I have now completed my second month of school.  My grades are good, I’m learning so much and having so much fun.  I am so happy to be at CB.  I can’t wait for the following months to come.

September 2010
The first month of school has been great.  The first day was cool.  I thought I'd learned how to get around campus during summer school but quickly did I realize that I hadn't been to all parts of the school because I got lost to Mr. McClure's class.  Fortunately my friend Sophie and I were able to find his class on time.  Then I had a little trouble opening my locker but I got it opened.  I giggled and the rest of the day went smoothly.  The first three weeks of school seemed to fly by so quickly.  I've enjoyed meeting new friends and getting to know my teachers.  The class work and homework is picking up and I am trying to stay organized and on top of my homework.  So far so good.

The freshmen lock-in was fun and our first dance was lots of fun.  There were so many activities, clubs and teams to consider joining.  I decided to try-out for the sports medicine training program.  I knew that it was going to be hard to be accepted into the program because many upper classmen were trying out and there was a chance that freshmen would not make the final team.  I didn't let it discourage me and I tried out anyway.  I worked hard to learn everything Ms. Stark was teaching and to show that I wanted to learn.  The day that the final team would be posted I was very nervous.  I was so excited to see my name on the list but also very bummed because my friends didn't make it.  I was the only freshmen to make the team.  I worried at first about how the upper classmen would accept me on the team but they have been very nice to me.  I am very proud to be part of the sports medicine program.  Being part of the sports medicine program means that I have to go to the training room everyday after school and help wrap and/or tape and/or ice CB athletes.  I will go to all of the freshemen football games and help give the players water and take care of any injuries they may have during the game.  There is much to learn and to get signed off every day.  The first freshmen game was on Thursday at Folsom High School.  I was very nervous at first because it meant that would be my first game on the field too.  But by the end of the game everything turned out well.  I can't wait for the Holy Bowl!

August 2010
Summer School was great!!  At first I was a little disappointed about going to summer school because all I could think of was the time and fun that I thought I would miss with my family during summer vacation.  Then I found out that I would be home early enough to still go swimming and go to the movies with my family and I would still have a fun summer.  I was also very happy to go to summer school because my instructor Mrs. Frias was so helpful.  Anytime I struggled with a math concept she was there to make sure I understood and learned it.  Being on the CB campus for summer school was great because I was able to learn how to get around.  It was especially great to meet many cool new friends.  Many of my friends from middle school are also going to CB so it will be great to introduce them to my new friends and be able to help them get around the campus if they get lost.

I know that going to Christian Brothers will be hard work but I will have many opportunities at CB that will help me reach my goals.  I feel so very blessed that I have the opportunity to attend Christian Brothers so I plan to work hard and do my very best.  I am so excited and I can't wait for School to start in a couple of weeks.
